Please select a date first.

To make a booking:

1.   Click once on the start day of your visit and then again on the last day. The days in between should all turn blue to show they have been selected. To book over the end of a month, click the arrival day in the first month, go to the month navigator at the top of the calendar and click the right arrow to advance a month, then click your end date in the second month.

2. Then complete the form; choose whether you want to pay by cheque or bank transfer and submit the form to us. You will receive an automated response from the booking system confirming the information you have entered. A personal email from the booking secretary will follow later, telling you how to pay the £30 deposit. (NB This may be a few days later as the booking secretary works full time, runs a number of units and tries to limit Paxwold admin to one day a week!)

3. Your booking is not officially confirmed until you receive the personalised response from the booking secretary, but no-one else will be able to book the dates you have chosen.

Please Note:

  • Terms of booking can be found on the link below.
  • Our insurance only covers members of Girlguiding.  For non-Guiding bookings you must arrange your own cover.
  • A Hirer’s Agreement Form must be completed for all non-Guiding bookings.
  • There are no shops in Goodmanham.  The nearest ones are at Market Weighton, a couple of miles away.  These include a Tesco, Morrisons Daily, Coupland’s Bakery, and a number of takeaways.  Most large supermarkets will deliver groceries to Paxwold.

If you have any questions, please email paxwoldbookings@yahoo.co.uk

Paxwold - things to do nearby

Paxwold is approximately 2 miles from Market Weighton, 12 miles from the historic market town of Beverley and 20 miles from both Hull and York.

Please note: there is no public transport from Paxwold.  If you want to travel out of the village, you will need your own transport.

5. York Maze offers an amazing day out with over 20 rides, shows and attractions, many under cover. The giant Maize Maze is the largest in Europe with a new design to solve each year.

6. Jorvik Viking Centre The year is AD960 and the last Viking King in Jorvik, Eric Bloodaxe, has been banished. The city is thriving with a flourishing manufacturing centre and wide trading links. Ride experience with the sights, sounds and of course, smells, of the Viking-Age.

11. The Yorkshire Air Museum and Allied Air Forces Memorial is located on the outskirts of the City of York within easy reach of the city centre.

Important information regarding bookings

Our insurance only covers members of Girlguiding.  For non-Guiding bookings you must arrange your own cover.

Members of Girlguiding must complete a Residential Event Notification Form and have it authorised in the usual way.

A Hirer’s Agreement Form must be completed for all non-Guiding bookings.

A premises risk assessment is available from the East Yorkshire county website.  Please be aware that this is a ‘best endeavours’ draft produced by the Paxwold Committee.  It has not been professionally drafted and does not mean you don’t have to also do your own risk assessment!

Weekend bookings are usually from 4:30 pm on Friday to 5:00pm on Sunday.  You can obviously make your own arrangements within these times but, if you would prefer to arrive earlier or leave later, please contact the booking secretary on the email address below.

Dogs are not allowed at Paxwold, except for Guide Dogs. Please advise when booking if you are bringing a Guide Dog.

Single-night bookings at a weekend are 50% more than the price per night for two nights.  This is because it is very rare for us to be able to find anyone to book the ‘other’ night at a weekend and so we lose money with single-night bookings.

We ask for a deposit of £30 two weeks after you receive confirmation of booking and then the final balance is due four weeks before the start of your stay.  We’d can always be flexible if you let us know that we need to be, but we’d be grateful if you could remember to stick to those deadlines as we don’t like to chase you for payment.  We know you have busy lives too!

Cheque payments are preferred, and cheques should be made payable to “Paxwold Training Centre”.  If you would like to pay by bank transfer, please contact the booking secretary.  If payment is made by bank transfer, it would be helpful if you could send proof of payment to the booking secretary, as this will speed up the process.

Our dormitories contain bunk beds.  The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommends that no child under the age of six sleeps in a top bunk. If logistics require younger girls to sleep in top bunks it is advisable to seek parental permission for this.

We do not provide sleeping bags, pillows, towels, tea towels, oven gloves, toilet rolls, first aid kit and cleaning materials.

There is no public transport near the house so if you intend to leave the village during your stay you will need your own transport.

There are no shops in Goodmanham.  The nearest ones are at Market Weighton, a couple of miles away.  These include a Tesco, Morrisons Daily, Coupland’s Bakery, and a number of takeaways.  Most large supermarkets will deliver groceries to Paxwold.

We do not have a caretaker so we would be grateful if you would ensure the house is left clean at the end of your stay.

Finally, the Paxwold committee is made up of a team of volunteers with lives, jobs and families.  Many also run Girlguiding units, as well as doing what they can to keep Paxwold available for use.  Feel free to contact us with any questions, but please don’t expect an immediate response!
