Qualifications
Learning Platform
There are lots of opportunities on Girlguiding’s learning platform – from webinars to e-learnings. Training in other formats (eg webinars or face to face) is also offered at county or region level.
Leader Development Programme
The Leader Development Programme is for volunteers who would like to become leaders. It is available on the learning platform. The becoming a leader training is part of the leader development programme, and it is split into three learning areas: building foundations, engaging in guiding, and you and your team. The qualification typically takes less than a year to complete.

			Young Leader Qualification
The Young Leader Qualification is for Girlguiding members aged 14-18, who are working with Rainbows, Brownies or Guides. It helps them to support the girls in the unit to have a fantastic time. Young Leaders develop skills in leadership, communication and team working – all of which make impressive additions to any CV. Some modules of the Young Leader Qualification link directly with the Leader Development Programme for those wanting to become a leader when they are 18.

			Going Away With
The Going Away With qualification deals with planning trips and ensuring the safety of girls when they are away from home. The basic licence allows you to take girls overnight, or for two nights or more if the programme, catering and facilities sections are also completed. There is an additional module to cover international travel, and a separate catering scheme.
If you enjoy outdoor adventures there are a number of schemes which involve qualifications in activities such as canoeing, climbing and abseiling, walking, and narrow boating. These will enable you to lead girls on adventures that will grow their confidence, teamworking and leadership skills.

			Becoming a trainer
Become a trainer with Girlguiding and support our fantastic volunteers to deliver great experiences to girls. Our trainers facilitate and deliver learning opportunities, giving volunteers the motivation and confidence to provide good Guiding for our girls.
Becoming a mentor
If you have a Girlguiding qualification, you can pass on your expertise through mentoring. Mentors can support other members through many different qualifications.
First aid training
All volunteers are encouraged to complete a first aid training course to keep our members safe. This can be either our own 1st response course or an external first aid course that fulfils the same requirements.
Safer guiding training
Safer guiding is our safeguarding training. The full course needs to be done by anyone having contact with girls. It can be done as a three-hour e-learning course, split into smaller modules, or a trainer-led session, which takes around four to five hours. Both courses can be booked through the learning platform.
