PHOENIX CAMP – 2nd – 9th August 2014

Phoenix Camp flagGuides from all areas of East Yorkshire arrived at Guideacres on Saturday 2nd August for the start of Phoenix camp amid glorious sunshine.  A very excited atmosphere emerged as the girls began to engage in the various activities on offer.

They were given the opportunity to try fencing, shooting, climbing, pioneering, orienteering, bush crafts and geocaching together with day trips to Flamingoland, City Hike and Water Sport activities.

Guides enjoy being creative and traditional Arts & Crafts were on offer teamed up with drumming, handbells and even Zumba for those with any energy left!!

Camp fires, disco and The Dukes of Bevington even put in an appearance and if all that wasn’t enough, night hikes and a Bivi completed the itinerary.

The camp concluded on 8th August, 2014 with a talent show, camp awards,  BBQ, fireworks and a disco.

Quotes from the Guides:

‘It was my first time at camp and I really enjoyed the daily activities, especially the wide games.  Looking forward to next year.’

‘It was great as everybody had the chance to try all the activities.  Highlights for me were Flamingoland, Welton Water and York City Hike.’
